Walt Disney World has a myriad of upscale experiences to add to your vacation. Resort guests can enjoy fine dining at one of the Signature Table Service restaurants, stay in luxury accommodations at a Deluxe hotel or even enjoy a traditional afternoon English tea service. We recently had the pleasure of attending the Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Lounge in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, so let’s take a look at what this elegant affair has to offer.

The Afternoon Tea at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is a special experience located in the Garden Tea Lounge on the first floor of the hotel. As with most sit-down dining locations at Walt Disney World, reservations are required. Guests can enjoy a selection of teas and food from around the world while relaxing in the beautiful window-lined lounge that gives views of the hotel grounds. The opulent theming of the Grand Floridian fits well with the dignified tea service, helping to elevate the guest’s experience.

The menu at the Afternoon Tea service consists of three packages, The Berkshire, The Cheshire Tea, and The Bedfordshire Tea. Each package comes with tea service, an array of finger sandwiches, scones, and a dessert. The Berkshire, the largest package, is meant to be shared between two guests and is served with North American Caviar. The Cheshire Tea is a slightly smaller offering, served with a selection of fruits and cheeses. The Bedfordshire Tea is the basic package and only comes with the sandwiches, scones, and dessert. Each package can be enhanced with the addition of a glass of champagne that Theme Park Professor™ highly recommends.

The tea offerings are an international line-up of some of the best teas from around the globe. There is something for every taste on the menu and a special “Mrs. Pott’s Tea” for younger guests. Each guest gets their own teapot filled with their choice of tea. There’s even a fancy teapot cozy included to keep it warm. Guests are then served the food options included with their package, as well as a selection of delectable pastries like tarts and scones that the Professor couldn’t get enough of!

The Afternoon Tea Service is available seven days a week and is available for reservations from noon to 4 p.m. daily. Reservations can be made 180 days in advance. Please note that the Garden View Tea Lounge does not accept Disney Dining Plan credits and a credit card will be required to make a reservation. Guests visiting after 3 p.m. get the added perk of hearing a performance from the Grand Floridian Lobby Pianist or the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra as they play to guests in the hotel lobby, right outside the lounge. So if you’re looking for a new relaxing and refined experience on your next visit to Walt Disney World, the Professor highly recommends giving the sumptuous Afternoon Tea service a try.
