Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park 101

| | | 0 comments

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is one of 2 water parks at the Walt Disney World Resort and is a great way to cool off after a hot day in the theme parks. This water park is themed around a ski resort that didn’t exactly find a suitable climate in Florida! The park features the 90-foot-high snow-capped Mt. Gushmore that’s home to the park’s signature attraction, Summit Plummet.

Chairlift

The Chairlift at Blizzard Beach looks and acts like a traditional ski slope chairlift. Using the Chairlift can save you a lot of steps as it takes you to the top of the mountain where you can take on Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher, or Teamboat Springs. You must be at least 32 inches tall to ride the Chairlift. Guests under 32 inches tall can access the top of Mount Gushmore by taking the stairs, and a gondola is available for Guests with disabilities.

Waterslides

Slush Gusher – Experience the thrill of the gushing waters as you slide straight to the bottom on this swiftly moving, snow-banked slide. Guests must be 48” or taller to ride.

Snow Stormers – Lay on a toboggan-style mat on your belly and careen down a zigzag course headfirst to the bottom of Mount Gushmore. Each of the 3 flumes is 350 feet long, so you can race your friends to the big splashdown at the bottom.

Summit Plummet – Plunge 12 stories almost straight down, rocketing through a darkened tunnel and into a massive spray of whitewater after a 360-foot-long, high-speed descent. Guests must be 48” or taller to ride.

Toboggan Racers – Grab your mat, take your mark and zip headfirst on your belly to the bottom of Mount Gushmore on a 250-foot-long “toboggan” race.

Inner Tube Rides

Downhill Double Dipper – Disappear into a black hole and plummet 50 feet downhill at exhilarating speeds. Hurtle through darkness, then emerge just in time for the big splashdown. Guests must be 48” or taller to ride.

Runoff Rapids – Rush down 3 distinctly different inner-tube waterslides—each one propelled by the runoff from Mount Gushmore.

Teamboat Springs – Get ready to be propelled through 1,200 feet of twists and turns as your oversized inner-tube raft banks left and right and rotates randomly, putting your whole team in the path of drenching sprays. Each raft accommodates 4 to 6 riders. If you have fewer than 4 in your party, you may be asked to share your raft with other Guests.

Wave Pool

Melt-Away Bay – Mount Gushmore’s waterfalls cascade into massive Melt-Away Bay, creating short waves perfect for leisurely floating. Swim out to the rocky outcrops and bask under a refreshing waterfall or grab an inner tube to float in the swells.

Lazy River

Cross Country Creek – Grab an inner tube and paddle gently down the stream as you ride through mysterious caves and grottoes, under bridges and past a lush green forest. Look out for bubbling geysers, waterfalls and leaky pipes along the way.

Ski Patrol Training Camp

Ski Patrol Training Camp offers a fun obstacle course with smaller water slides that are perfect for tweens and teens! Test your balance walking across the Thin Ice Training Course, fly away on the “T-Bar” zip line, or slide down Frozen Pipe Springs or Snow Falls body slide.

Tikes Peak Splash Area

Tikes Peak is a splash area for children 48” and shorter. Kids can enjoy miniature water slides, a junior inner tube ride, or play in the wading pools featuring “melting” snow sculptures.

Towel and Locker Rental

Towels are available to rent for $2 each at the Beach Haus and Shoeless Joe’s. Guests of Walt Disney World Resort hotels can get free towels at both locations by scanning their MagicBands.
