Walt Disney World Character Dining 101

Character Dining at Walt Disney World

One of the most memorable parts of a Walt Disney World vacation can be the interactions families have with the whimsical and friendly Disney Characters. A great way to get in some quality time with the Disney Characters is to combine your meet with a meal at one of Disney’s Character Dining experiences. These unique events allow guests to enjoy one of the resort’s Table Service dining locations along with personal, tableside interactions with characters.

Character Dining at Walt Disney World consists of a Table Service meal accompanied by visits from favorite Disney Characters. Guests can enjoy their meal while the characters make their rounds, visiting each table for photos, autographs, hugs, and interactions. Usually, characters will visit each table at least once, and then continue to tour the dining room. At some locations, characters will lead guests in crowd games or walking parades around the restaurant. These special dining reservations can be a great way for guests to meet and have fun with their favorite characters, without having to wait in line and can include characters not easily found at meet and greets in the parks.

Each theme park at Walt Disney World has at least one Character Dining location as do many of the Deluxe resorts. An early morning reservation at park locations serving breakfast can be a great option for guests wanting to enjoy their meal before park opening. Reservations for Character Dining are accepted beginning at 180 prior to arrival and are very highly recommended. Many Character Dining locations like Cinderella’s Royal Table tend to fill up fast, so you’ll want to make these reservations as soon as possible. A great way to alleviate some of that stress is to use a Travel Advisor like our friends at Key to the World Travel® who can help arrange those reservations for you. Most locations are eligible for Disney Dining Plan Table Service credits, but in some cases will require 2 credits per person.
