We are only a few weeks away from the highly anticipated opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Soon guests will be able to step inside the universe of the beloved and iconic film series and live the adventures they’ve watched on screen for years. The immersive land features new attractions and experiences never before brought to a theme park like building a lightsaber or droid and having a drink with a wretched hive of scum and villainy at an alien cantina. To take part in these new experiences, guests will need to make reservations ahead of their visit. Disney recently opened the reservation system for the new land, so let’s take a look at how to reserve your spot for one of these coveted new adventures!
Guests can currently reserve spots for Savi’s Workshop (lightsabers), Droid Depot (robots) and Oga’s Cantina (lounge) before their visit to Galaxy’s Edge. While it’s nothing new to make an advance reservation for a dining outlet like Oga’s, this is the first time guests have been required to reserve a spot for a merchandise location. That’s because Savi’s and the Droid Depot aren’t just shops, they are interactive experiences where you create your own souvenir. Since this requires time and personal attention from Cast Members, there are a limited number of spaces available per day. It should be noted that Oga’s Cantina reservations are accepted through the My Disney Experience mobile app or internet browser, while reservations for Savi’s and Droid Depot can only be made through a browser on the Walt Disney World website. All three experiences can be reserved up to 180 days in advance.
Oga’s Cantina Reservations
To begin making a reservation for Oga’s Cantina, you’ll want to sign in to your My Disney Experience account either on the app or website. To find the location you want to reserve, the Professor recommends typing the name in the search bar. You’ll usually find it faster than sifting through lists of other locations.
After searching for Oga’s, and clicking on the page result, you will see the page listing for the cantina. On the right side will be a “Check Availability” box that you will use to search for a date and time. Click on the calendar and choose a time and add your party size.
If the system is experiencing high traffic, you’ll most likely get a screen with a cute little animation of the Millennium Falcon zooming through space. This will only last a few minutes, and it’s important you do not hit refresh or back out of the screen or you will lose your place in the virtual queue and have to start over again.
From there you will choose which party members will join you from your friends and family connected on My Disney Experience. If you aren’t sure who will be joining you, or they aren’t linked to your account, you can leave that blank.
You will then enter a credit card to secure your reservation. It will not be charged at that time, but is kept on file and will be charged a fee if you don’t show or cancel your reservation at least 24 hours ahead. Once you have reviewed and confirmed you will see a confirmation page with your reservation information. You are now ready to grab a glass of blue milk and relax to the soothing sounds of DJ-R3X! Please note that Oga’s menu does not offer any meals, only drinks and a couple of snack options. So you’ll need to head over to Ronto Roasters or Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo for a full meal.
Savi’s Workshop and Droid Depot Reservations
As we mentioned before, Savi’s Workshop and the Droid Depot building experiences use a different reservation system than dining locations like Oga’s Cantina. Reservations for both experiences must be made on the My Disney Experience website through a web browser. You can begin the process in the app, but it will switch you to the website to place the reservation. We will use the Savi’s Workshop reservation as an example, but the steps can be applied to Droid Depot as well.
After searching for Savi’s or Droid Depot, and clicking on the page results, you will see the main information page. Click on the “Check Availability” button.
You will then see a screen where you choose the number of participants as well as the date and time you would like to visit. All guests wishing to build will need to be listed as a participant. Each builder is allowed one guest to join them for the experience, but will not be allowed to build unless they have been listed on the reservation. Non-building guests will not need to be listed on the reservation. After making your build party and selecting time and date, click on the “Confirm” button.
You will then see a “Review and Confirm” page where you will need to enter the names of all builders as well as a credit card to secure your reservation. As with dining reservations, this card will not be charged unless you don’t show or cancel 24 hours ahead.
After providing that information and confirming, you will see your reservation confirmation screen. You are now ready to venture forth, lightsaber and droid in hand, to a galaxy far, far away!
