Tiffins Restaurant is a Signature Dining Table Service location on Discovery Island in Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom park. This newer spot opened its doors in 2016 and arrived in the park as part of an expansion that included the addition of Pandora: The World of Avatar. Tiffins celebrates the world traveler with a menu featuring tastes from different far off exotic regions like Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
“Tiffin” is the Indian word for a lunchbox used by travelers. The restaurant features a theme of exploration and adventure inspired by the travels of the Imagineers who created Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The location is adorned with the sketches and art created by Imagineers during their extensive research and adventures through various regions while designing the park. Upon entering, guests are greeted with a gigantic map of the globe, before being seated in one of three stylish dining rooms honoring the spirit of Africa, Asia and some of the world’s most exotic animals.
The location also features the Nomad Lounge where guests can enjoy beautiful waterfront views while sipping on handcrafted cocktails with African, Asian and South American flavors, imported beers and a South American and South African wine list. The lounge follows the theme of exploration but adds an aspect of conservation and how guests can make a difference and can purchase a tag that supports the Disney Conservation Fund that is added to a collection behind the bar from travelers around the world.
Tiffins’ eclectic menu allows guests to sample tastes from the road less traveled. Guests can enjoy exotic appetizers like a signature bread service, spiced chickpea falafel or charred octopus. Entrees include colorful dishes like butter chicken, whole-fried sustainable fish, or the Professor’s favorite shrimp and grits. Meals can be expanded with a selection of enhancements like lobster macaroni and cheese and roasted Brussel sprouts in a bacon-sherry vinaigrette.
Guests can round out their delicious experience with a selection of desserts like “The Lion King” caramel mousse with chocolate brownie and strawberry-mango sauce or the Tiffins Trio of South American chocolate ganache, whipped cheesecake, and guava mousse. The restaurant also features a drink menu of wine and beer as well as alluring cocktails like the Lamu Libation made with three types of rum and mixed with guava purée and tropical juices.
As with all Table Service locations at Walt Disney World, reservations are accepted beginning at 180 days prior to arrival and highly suggested. Tiffins accepts Disney Dining Plans but is considered a Signature Dining location and will require 2 Table Service credits per person. A credit card is required for your reservation and a $10 per person no-show fee will be charged if you don’t show up or cancel at least 24 hours prior. Guests may also take advantage of special dining packages for Rivers of Light and The Festival of the Lion King featuring a 3-course meal at Tiffins and a special dedicated seating area for one of the shows.
