Top 5 Disneyland Snacks

Disneyland

The Disneyland Resort welcomes millions of visitors each year through its gates to experience classic and new attractions and enjoy its rich history of entertainment. Rides and attractions aren’t the only things the resort has to offer though, and some of the best aspects of a Disneyland vacation can be the amazing food offered throughout the parks. From world-class restaurants to grab-and-go snacks, there’s something for every taste. Today we are going to run down the Professor’s list of the top 5 snacks that every guest should try on their next visit to Disneyland.

Corn Dogs

Let’s start our list with a snack that any Disneyland regular knows is always a good choice for a savory treat: corn dogs. You might be wondering why a standard snack item you can get in any grocery store would make the list, but I assure you these aren’t your normal corn dogs. Disneyland has added a gourmet twist to the classic carnival food by hand-dipping each hotdog in housemade cornbread batter before frying. The result is a truly amazing upgrade to the traditional corn dog with a crunchy and fluffy coating. As with any food that comes on a stick, it’s also a great portable option to munch on while making your way to your next attraction. Corn Dogs can be found at various locations in Disneyland Resort like The Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure.

Churros

This next snack is another iconic park treat that has become synonymous with Disneyland food. Churros are basically donuts in stick form. These tasty sticks are made by piping a sweet batter into hot oil and then covering them in toppings like sugar and cinnamon. The churro originates in Spain and Portugal but has been quickly accepted into the pantheon of theme park food by hungry guests. Disneyland takes the snack to a new level with the addition of limited-time themed and specialty flavors like the cherry rock candy-coated Avengers Reality Stone Churro or the Smores Churro with chocolate/marshmallow dipping sauce (the Professor’s favorite!). Churros can be found at various locations throughout the Disneyland Resort.

Matterhorn Macaroon

The Matterhorn Macaroon isn’t just a delectable snack it also has the distinction of being the only snack at Disneyland made to look like a ride! These delightful treats are large baked coconut cookies topped white chocolate making the snack look like the snowy peak of the Matterhorn mountain where guests can take a whirlwind bobsled ride. Matterhorn Macaroons are pretty substantial in size which should help satisfy those who prefer larger snacks. You can find this fun treat at the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in Disneyland Park.

Dole Whip

Our next snack list entry is also the only one to be developed specifically for Disney parks. Introduced in 1986 as a special treat to go along with Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, the Dole Whip quickly became an iconic treat beloved by park guests. This frosty refreshment is made from frozen pineapple soft serve and can be turned into a float with the addition of pineapple juice. It’s not hard to see why the Dole Whip is such a hit on both coasts as it’s a refreshing and light option that can help revive you on those hot park days. It’s even inspired some of its own park merchandise recently with the addition of Dole Whip shirts and purses added to park retail locations. Dole Whips can be found at Adventureland’s Tiki Juice Bar in Disneyland Park.

Mickey Bars

We are going to round out our list of the best Disneyland snacks with what is probably the most well-known offering in all of the Disney parks. To most guests visiting the Disneyland Resort, the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar is the “must-have” snack and a day at the parks wouldn’t be complete without it. This vanilla ice cream bar on a stick is coated in chocolate and shaped like the mouse that started it all. You can never go wrong with ice cream and the simple yet whimsical design of this snack just adds to the magic and fun of Disneyland. These treats are so popular, they recently made an appearance on grocery store shelves. Mickey Bars can be found throughout the resort at most ice cream carts.
