Animal Kingdom Baby Fever

| | |

Animal Kingdom baby fever is real! It’s a new year and that means new beginnings at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There are two very cute new additions to the pride!

“One of the most rewarding parts of my role is getting to see our team welcome new animal babies at Disney’s Animal Kingdom,” Scott continued, “Today, I’m thrilled to share we are celebrating two new animal births in the new year — the park’s first Hartmann’s zebra foal and an Angolan black-and-white colobus monkey.”

The new Hartmann zebra foal is the first vulnerable zebra species birthed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Weighing in at 65 lbs, the yet to be named foal was reported to have been up and walking within 30 mins after birth. According to the West Savanna team, his mother, Prima, is in good health!

Over at Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, another baby boy was introduced into the world! Douglas, a male Angolan black-and-white colobus monkey was born to mother, Zahra. “Look up high and you can see this small white fur ball snuggling close to his mom. As he grows up, his color will change to black with white around his face, and on his tail, like the others in his troop. Douglas is the second of his family to be born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. His sister Alika was born in 2018 and likes to preen him while mom looks on,” shared Scott.

This is just the first of many birth announcements at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for 2020! We can’t wait to hear about all of the amazing specific growth that has been taking place with the help of Animal & Science Operations at Walt Disney World!
