Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel have access to some of the best accommodations in Central Florida. With plentiful amenities and fun theming, guests can look forward to a stay free of the hassles of home, like cleaning. For people like myself who tend to make messes pretty fast, the resort’s daily housekeeping (or “Mousekeeping”) is a great value. Not everyone needs a daily hotel room cleaning though, and Disney actually has a program in place where guests who decline “Mousekeeping” can earn a Disney Gift Card!
Guests who participate in Walt Disney World’s “Service Your Way” program can decline housekeeping for the duration of their stay and earn a $10 Disney Gift Card per night of their vacation (excluding the first night). The service is only available at Disney’s Moderate and Value Resorts and for guests staying two nights or longer. Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villas Resorts are not eligible.
- 2-Night Stay=$10 Disney Gift Card eGift
- 4-Night Stay=$30 Disney Gift Card eGift
- 8-Night Stay=$70 Disney Gift Card eGift
- 10-Night Stay=$90 Disney Gift Card eGift
By declining “Mousekeeping” you will not receive the daily standard housekeeping duties like making beds, vacuuming, tidying the bathroom area, removing trash, changing linens and replenishing towels and toiletries. You can still get items like clean towels, sheets, toilet paper, and soap by selecting the “Housekeeping” or “ Disney Services” button on your in-room telephone for assistance. I have also found that you can ask a housekeeping Cast Member for assistance with items if you see them in the resort, cleaning other rooms.
This does not, however, mean that no one will enter your room during your stay. Disney has increased security measures in the recent past to include routine room checks. Disney reserves the right to enter any onsite room for maintenance, safety, security or any other purpose, even if the Room Occupied sign is displayed on the room door.
There are two ways to opt-in for the “Service Your Way” program. The first is by using Disney’s Online Check-In on the My Disney Experience app or website. Simply log-in to your account, and choose your reservation.
You’ll see a button to begin your check-in, or if you have already provided information, you can modify it.
Once you’ve clicked that, you will see the option for “Service Your Way” with a link to the details.
After clicking the pencil icon next to the title, you will then see the option to opt-in or out of the service. This screen will also tell you the total of your Disney Gift Card if you choose to take part in declining “Mousekeeping”.
On your arrival day, your Disney Gift Card eGift will be sent to the email you have registered in your My Disney Experience account. Each eGift card has a barcode listed at the bottom that can be scanned for purchases. We recommend taking a picture of the email and saving it for easier retrieval. You can also print your email if you prefer to have a paper copy on hand. Disney Gift Card balances can be combined, so if you’ve already got one, you can add the balance of your “Mousekeeping” card at the Disney Gift Card site. Disney Gift Cards are accepted at almost any dining and shopping location at Walt Disney World. Your “Mousekeeping” card can also be used at any Disney owned property like Disneyland or Aulani, as well as the Disney Store and shopDisney.
