Walt Disney World has rolled out a number of new safety measures throughout the resort to help guests feel safer during their visit. One of these new measures includes reducing contact between Cast Members and guests by implementing a new mobile check-in procedure for Table Service dining. Now guests with an existing dining reservation can notify the restaurant of their arrival and get an alert when their table is ready. This enables you to maximize your vacation time and minimize your contact with others.
To use Disney’s Mobile Dine Check-in you’ll first need to make sure you have the latest version of the My Disney Experience app on your mobile device. Currently, mobile check-in is only supported by devices running Android or iOS with the latest version of the My Disney Experience app installed and location services enabled.
The My Disney Experience app will already have any Table Service reservations you’ve made listed. When your reservation time comes, you’ll receive a notification in the app that you are free to start your check-in. If you’re already at the restaurant, you can also start your check-in by scanning the QR code posted at the entrance. This code will take you to the same process as starting through the app.
After clicking “Start Check-in” you’ll be asked to confirm your dining party. This will allow you to remove or add guests to your party but be aware that adding new guests may change your reservation, and your table may not be ready as quickly.
From there you will be asked if you require a wheelchair or ECV accessible table for anyone in your dining party. If you don’t need this option, you can click on “Skip” at the bottom of the page.
Your next screen will ask if anyone in your party has any food allergies the chef should know about. Walt Disney World is renowned for accomodating guests with food allergies and will work with your party to provide a safe meal. While Disney gives you the option to inform the restaurant during your check-in, we highly recommend informing Disney of these allergies when you or your travel planner initially make your reservation as well.
Finally, you’ll be asked if you are celebrating any special occasions. Walt Disney World loves to help guests with birthdays, anniversaries, and more and might just add a little extra magic to your dining experience.
After confirming your party, dietary and accessibility requests, and celebrations you’ll then see a confirmation page listing all of your information. Take a minute to review this and make sure everything is correct. You’ll also be asked to provide a phone number that the restaurant will use to text you when your table is ready. If you don’t enter a number, you’ll need to wait near the check-in podium for your name to be called. After you hit submit, you should receive a text immediately informing you that your check-in was successful and you’ll get another message when your table is ready.
When the restaurant is ready to seat your party, you’ll get a text with instructions on where to meet a Cast Member who will escort you to your table. Now all that’s left is to enjoy your meal!
One other change to Walt Disney World’s Table Service dining experience comes in a new form of paperless menus. All Table Service restaurants in the resort now offer a QR code at the table that can be scanned with your mobile device. This code will take you to the full menu for the restaurant, reducing guests’ contact with high touch items like physical menus.
