EPCOT is in the middle of a huge renovation that even COVID couldn’t stop. Last night, Imagineer Zach Riddley shared some photos of new pylons added outside Spaceship Earth. The hope for these new pylons is to draw your eye upward toward the sky and perfectly frame views of the iconic Spaceship Earth attraction.
The pylons are part of the entrance overhaul that includes a new fountain. In his post, Riddley states he plans to reveal more of the fountain later this year.
Imagineers took special interest in looking back to the original geometry for inspiration and infusing new features with a little bit of added magic to bridge the past, present and future of EPCOT.
While there has been no official update on when the renovation of EPCOT would be completed, originally it was hoped to be done by Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021. The pandemic has taken it’s toll on the work being completed at all four parks. With the construction restarted, we are hoping to begin to see some opening announcements for future attractions soon!
