A trip to the Disneyland Resort can be a magical experience. One of the best ways to immerse yourself in the magic is to combine your theme park visit with a stay at one of Disneyland’s onsite hotels. The resort has three hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand California Hotel & Spa, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel) with varying price points. All three hotels are within steps of the gates to the parks and offer guests a number of benefits not available to day guests. From prime location to priority reservations, there’s a lot of reasons to stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel. Let’s take a look at what to expect on your next stay.
Extra Magic Hour
One of our favorite perks of a Disneyland Resort hotel stay is access to Extra Magic Hours. This means that hotel guests may enjoy admission to select attractions, stores, entertainment, and dining locations in Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park for one full hour before the parks open to the general public on select days. This benefit is available for every day of your hotel stay and can save you a lot of time spent in line for more popular attractions. Even more so when you take into account that Extra Magic Hour Guests with Disney MaxPass can start making mobile Fastpass selections for the day as soon as they enter the park. It varies on which park will be open for Extra Magic Hour, but is usually as follows:
- Disney California Adventure: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays
- Disneyland Park: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
Preferred Access Reservations
Guests staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel have an advantage when it comes to snagging some important reservations. Onsite guests get preferred access to a limited number of reservations during their stay like dining and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. These reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance and include:
- Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
- Blue Bayou Restaurant
- Carthay Circle Restaurant
- Catal Restaurant
- Goofy’s Kitchen
- La Brea Bakery Cafe
- Napa Rose
- Naples Ristorante e Bar
- Plaza Inn
- Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen
- Tortila Joe’s
Key to the Magic Card
When you check in to your Disneyland hotel, you’ll be given a plastic card key referred to as the “Key to the Magic Card” to access your room. This card doesn’t just open your hotel room though, as it can also be used to shop and dine throughout Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and select Downtown Disney District locations. It can also be used to redeem your MaxPass reservations. This is a great way to lighten your load each day and leave the wallet or purse behind.
One of our favorite things to do at Disneyland is shop! But the last thing anyone wants to do on vacation is lug all of their purchases around with them. Luckily guests of a Disneyland Resort hotel get free package delivery to their hotel room from most retail locations. This is a great way to relax a bit more and not have to worry that you can’t get that souvenir you’re drooling over because it’s just too big to carry with you. To take advantage of this service, simply as a Cast Member during your purchase.
Staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel means you’re staying in the heart of the magic. All three Disneyland hotels are within walking distance of theme park gates as well as the Downtown Disney District. This means that you won’t have to worry about the hassle of parking, or dealing with public transportation. We love the convenience of being able to take a mid-day break and be at our hotel within minutes of leaving the park. If you’re staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa you have access to a special entrance to Disney California Adventure directly from the hotel.
If you’re staying at the Disneyland Hotel but would like to experience some of the amenities offered at Disney’s Grand Californian, you’re in luck! Guests staying at any Disneyland Resort hotel have access to the amenities available at all three hotels. These offerings include poolside cabanas and nightly live music at the Disneyland Hotel, movies under the stars at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, and more. And with all three hotels within walking distance of each other, it’s even easier to check out what the other hotels have to offer during your stay.
Disney is known for its world-class customer service and the staff at the Disneyland Resort hotels are no exception. Onsite guests can look forward to 24-hour guest service during their stay that can really add to the enjoyment of your vacation. These Cast Members are friendly and knowledgeable and can help you with many aspects of your stay. If you’re not sure which Disneyland restaurant you should eat at, or if you’re looking for other activities outside of the resort gates, these Cast Members can be an invaluable resource in helping you navigate your trip.
