Halloween Characters and Cavalcades at Magic Kingdom

| | |

This past week we were lucky enough to be apart of the first “post-COVID” holiday celebration at Magic Kingdom. Halloween events began at the park on September 15th and included specialty themed treats, characters in costume, special cavalcades, and more!

While we LOVE Boo-to-You and all of the amazing holiday parades at Disney parks, we understand why it is necessary to temporarily cancel anything that will bring together a large crowd. However, that doesn’t mean your Halloween park experience isn’t just as magical! We found some fun new ways to experience the “not so scary” fun at Magic Kingdom this Halloween.

We were able to witness the cavalcades that run all throughout the day at Magic Kingdom through Halloween. When we say “all throughout the day,” we mean it! Every time we exited an attraction, or store, another cavalcade went by. They even had a backup plan if it rained. Take a look at the current Halloween cavalcades at Magic Kingdom below:

Pooh & Friends Halloween Trolly Cavalcade:

Pooh and friends begin their cavalcade in between the Main St Fire Station and Harmony Barber Shop. This cute little show goes down Main St USA, to the castle, and back around down Main St. You can tell exactly when Pooh, Piglet, Eyeore, and Tigger will be coming as the music changes to the Heffalumps and Woozles song!

Pooh is dressed as a bee, Tigger a pirate, Piglet a fairy, and Eyeore is a clown. They bounce around up and down Main St several times randomly throughout the day. We caught the show 6 times in one day!

Pooh & Friends “Meet” & Greet

Located outside Crystal Palace is a special “meet” and greet opportunity several times throughout the day with Pooh and Friends in their Halloween costumes. Crsytal Palace is currently closed and guests are not allowed on the patio with the characters. However, you can stand in front of them, socially distancing from others, and take selfies with each character.

This may sound like it isn’t as speical as normally meeting a character, but it was just as fun. Each character smiled and waved with you. They would pose for photos and let you take your time. Tigger even blew a few kisses for me.

Jack, Sally, & Oogie Boogie Cavalcade:

If you’re a fan of Nightmare Before Christmas, you’ll love this one! Jack, Sally and OOgie Boogie start in Frontierland and move along the normal parade route. Waving and dancing to a remix of This is Halloween. The float is the same one from previous years Halloween Party.

Just like Pooh and Friends, this runs at random times throughout the day. It doesn’t run as often as Pooh and Friends. We asked a Cast Member what the schedule was for the different cavalcades and we were told there isn’t one. Each one is random depending on park capacity, crowds, and available staffing.

Mickey & Friends Halloween Cavalcade

If you love the Boo to You Parade at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, you will LOVE this cavalcade. Boo to You plays as Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, and Daisy ride down on their float. They are surrounded by a skeleton crew from the original Boo to You Parade including pirates, a gravedigger(minus the shovel), dancers, and Cast Members in Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party costumes.

We did see this show often. The first two days we were at Magic Kingdom we watched this show at least 4 times each day. Again, there was no set plan or schedule.

“Meet” Mickey and Friends at the Train Station

When the characters weren’t on the parade route they were greeting guests from the train station!

Villains Cavalcade

The biggest and badest of the villains also have their own cavalcade for this year’s Halloween celebration. To the sound of “It’s Good to Be Bad,” Jafar with the Evil Queen and Maleficent are led through the park by Gaston, Captain Hook, and Boller Hat Man.

**It is good to note that the villains that walk with the parade have already changed to feature different characters each day. Just yesterday the Big Bad Wolf took the place of Boller Hat Man. This is another special treat for guests. You never know what you’re going to find!

The cavalcades and character experiences at Magic Kingdom for Halloween are such a fun addition to the normal park operations. Even though we aren’t able to enjoy Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, it’s great that Disney is still offering holiday entertainment, treats, and decorations.

Rainy Day Cavalcade

The rain came in quickly, as it does in Orlando, and we expected the cavalcades to stop for the time being. Instead, we were delighted to see they brought out the Rainy Day Cavalcade! The cavalcade includes all of our favorite Disney Princesses waving and smiling at guests while they are safely covered in their trolly cars.
