Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays Guide

| | |

The holiday season is upon us and Walt Disney World is ready to celebrate the season! While things may look a bit different for 2020, the resort is still rolling out a number of special festive experiences just for guests visiting during the holidays. One of the standout events of any holiday season is the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. This eclectic festival features holiday traditions from 11 countries in World Showcase. Here guests can enjoy seasonal food and beverages, lively holiday music, and holiday traditions from cultures around the globe. This year, due to reopening guidelines after the outbreak of COVID-19, Disney has announced a modified version of the festival called the Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, with many popular experiences returning. This year’s festival takes place from November 27 to December 30 with a ton of food, activities, and Disney characters, so let’s take a look at everything you can enjoy this year!

Holiday Kitchens

One of the biggest draws to any EPCOT festival is the wide variety of special dishes and treats found throughout the park. This year’s festivities feature 20 locations with holiday favorites from countries like Germany, China, Japan, and France. Kitchens are open daily during the festival from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth you’ll want to take part in EPCOT’s sweetest way to celebrate the season. The Holiday Cookie Stroll is a scavenger hunt that features five holiday cookies from around World Showcase. After picking up a Festival Passport, you can visit each of the locations listed and purchase a specially themed cookie and receive a stamp. After collecting all 5 stamps, bring your Passport to the Sweets & Treats Holiday Kitchen where you will receive a complimentary Peppermint Minnie Cookie. Epcot International Festival of the Holidays

Guests visiting the festival have access to a number of live performances, special for the holidays including the return of some guest favorites. At the America Gardens Theater, park entertainers The Voices of Liberty and Mariachi Cobre will be presenting holiday-themed performances daily throughout the festival. Over on the Mill Stage in the Canada Pavilion, the always fun and lively JAMMitors will appear with a new holiday-themed percussion show. The popular JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season makes its return to EPCOT with daily performances of Gospel, R&B, and holiday songs at the Showplace Stage. All performances are included in admission. Please check your park guide for daily showtimes.

While character meet and greets have been temporarily suspended, that doesn’t mean Mickey and his friends aren’t still making appearances. Disney has replaced the usual meets with pop-up character mini parades that occur throughout the day at all four theme parks. These parades are a great way to say hi to and snap some photos of your favorite Disney pals while still adhering to the resort’s guidelines. During the Taste of EPCOT Festival of the Holidays, guests can look forward to appearances from some of their favorite characters all decked out for the holiday season. Even the big man himself, Santa Claus, will be joining in on the fun!

  • Mickey and Friends World Tour
On your adventures around World Showcase, you may spot Mickey and his friends out and about on their own sightseeing tour!
  • Frozen Promenade
Queen Anna and Elsa have ventured far from Arendelle to visit with all of you as they travel around the World Showcase.
  • Princess Promenade
Wave hello to some of your favorite Disney Princesses as they travel around World Showcase in a horse-drawn carriage.
  • Santa Claus Promenade
See Santa as he takes a grand tour around World Showcase in his horse-drawn carriage, calling out happy holiday wishes to all.

Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition

A great way to get kids in on the fun of the holidays at EPCOT is with the new Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition scavenger hunt. This is a festive quest around World Showcase hunting for holiday traditions that the magical snowman has gathered—and lost—along the way. After purchasing a scavenger hunt map, guests tour World Showcase looking for small displays featuring Olaf. After locating and marking each discovery with a sticker, you can redeem your map for a surprise holiday gift. Maps can be purchased for $7.99 at Disney Traders, Mouse Gear, World Traveler, and Port of Entry. You can also find them at Stroller Rental locations at the Main Entrance and at International Gateway, as well as the merchandise cart in the Canada Pavilion. After collecting all of the stickers, you can redeem your map at Disney Traders, Mouse Gear, or World Traveler.
