Dining With Allergy Restrictions at Walt Disney World

| | |

When you’re planning a vacation with dietary or allergy restrictions, it can often be scary and a little overwhelming. Where can you eat? Will they have something on the menu that will work for the restriction? Will it be a super limited menu? These are all things that go through your mind as you begin to plan a trip away from home.

Most food allergies and intolerances can be accommodated at restaurants in the parks and resort hotels. Gluten, wheat, shellfish, soy, lactose, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, fish or eggs allergies are all taken into consideration by the chefs at Walt Disney World. We have put together a guide to help you navigate dining with an allergy or restriction that we hope will aid you while visiting the parks.

Table Service vs. Quick Service:

The processes are a little different for ordering with a dietary restriction or allergy at Table Service vs. Quick Service restaurants. Table Service restaurants require dining reservations and you are able to let them know you have an allergy/restriction menu when you book. Quick Service restaurants have separate menus that you may choose from when you walk-up or do mobile dining.

Table Service:

Since you are required to make a reservation for Table Service meals, you will have to log on to your My Disney Experience account( or your travel advisor will do this for you), and then located the restaurant you’d like to make a reservation and find a date/time that works for you. On the Walt Disney World website, and on the app, you are able to look at the menus for each dining location before you decide where to make reservations.

When you are on the page for the restaurant click “View Menu” and then tap on the time of day you wish to dine(breakfast, lunch, or dinner) and then you are able to scroll down to the allergy menus for that location. See screenshot below:

You also have the option of making dietary requests during your dining reservation booking on the Disney website. Simply click “Special Dietary Requests” and there are options to choose from. This will alert the restaurant and wait staff ahead of your arrival that you have a special request. You can see the form below:

Once you click “Add” you will be prompted to select your allergy/restriction to add to your reservation. This will immediately let the staff at your dining location that you have a special request and they will do their best to accommodate you.

If you have a very specific need that isn’t covered in the boxes on the chart or an issue with cross-contaminating, select other and then we would suggest emailing the Special Diets Department([email protected]); or call them at (407) 824-5967 prior to your trip. This is also a great reason to have a travel advisor! They will take care of all of this for you.  You can also speak to the server when you arrive at your reservation and let them know of your allergy so they can talk to the chef on your behalf. Many Walt Disney World restaurants can handle the following requests without prior notice: Vegetarian, Vegan, No Sugar Added, Low Sodium, Low Carbohydrates, Diabetes and Gastric Bypass or Lap Band.

Quick Service:

Advance dining reservations are not required at Quick Service locations. You can request to speak with a cast member if you have a contamination issue. They may not be able to guarantee your request, but they will still let you know what your options are. They have allergy/restriction menus you may look at or you can view them in your My Disney Experience app as well.

When you open your My Disney Experience app to mobile order you can click on the menus to scroll all the way down to their allergy menu or you can click “Order Food” and then select the “Allergy Friendly” menu to begin your order. See an example below:

There are many things to take into consideration when planning your Walt Disney World trip. Dietary restrictions are just one aspect of the planning process. This is why we always suggest you book with a travel advisor.
