Premier Hotels at Universal Orlando: A Comparison Guide

| | |

At the Universal Orlando Resort, there are several hotels that you can choose for your resort stay. Three of these options are in the premier category. This is your comparison guide to the premier hotels at Universal Orlando.

The Benefits

What are the benefits of staying at a premier hotel? Well, there are several. All three of these resorts are very close to Universal CityWalk and the entrances to the theme parks. A water taxi is provided or you can use the walking path that goes throughout the entire resort. These options make getting back and forth to your resort very convenient at the beginning or end of the day and if you are looking to take a mid-day break!

When you stay at an on-site hotel at Universal Orlando, you also have access to Early Park Admission. It’s always nice to have a head start on your day and with this benefit, you are able to enter the parks an hour earlier. You have access to select attractions, including some of the most popular in the parks!

In my opinion, the biggest perk is you will receive the Universal Express Pass Unlimited for the length of your stay at no additional cost. The Universal Express Pass gives you access to shorter wait times for many attractions throughout the theme parks. This is a huge benefit, especially during the busier times of the year.

Let’s explore each premier hotel a little further, discussing the pros and cons of each.

Loews Royal Pacific Resort

Loews Royal Pacific Resort

This resort features an immersive tropical theme that takes you away to the South Seas. Loews Royal Pacific Resort is the closest premier resort to Universal’s Islands of Adventure. You may even be able to get a view of the park right from your room!

Pros: This resort has a beautiful theme, like you on a relaxing island retreat. It is a quick walk to the entrance of Universal’s Islands of Adventure and several rooms offer views of the park, including Hogwarts Castle. It offers standard rooms with accommodations for up to 5 people, with a rollaway bed. There are themed Jurassic World kids’ suites and accommodations for larger parties as well. There are several great restaurants too. This resort is often at a slightly lower price point compared to the other premier hotels and includes the Universal Express Pass.

Cons: Guest room soundproofing may be an issue depending on the location of the room.

Hard Rock Hotel Orlando

Hard Rock Hotel

The Hard Rock Hotel Orlando is this professor’s favorite! The outside has a California Mission theme. For classic rock fans, you may recognize the architecture from the album cover for Hotel California by the Eagles. Inside, you will find memorabilia and nods to music and popular artists throughout the property. Don’t forget to check out the mirror in your room to see how your height compares to some of your favorite stars!

Hard Rock Hotel Pool

Pros: The theme of this hotel is especially great for adults and families with older kids. It is the closest hotel to Universal Studios. You can walk or take a water taxi to the parks and Universal CityWalk. There are great dining options available and the pool is so fun, complete with an underwater sound system! The standard rooms sleep up to 5 guests with a rollaway and suite options are also available. Universal Express Pass Unlimited is included with your stay.

Cons: While the table service options here are great, the quick service is limited.

Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

Loews Portofino

. The Loews Portofino Bay Hotel is themed after the Italian seaside village of Portofino. The elegant vibe and beautiful architecture found at this resort will not disappoint.

Pros: Like the other premier hotels, guests staying at this resort will enjoy the Universal Express Pass Unlimited for the length of their stay. You can get to the parks using the water taxi or the shuttle to Universal’s Volcano Bay. The standard guest rooms sleep up to 5 with a rollaway and there are larger suites available as well, including the Despicable Me Minions Kids’ Suite. The pools here are very nice and the Mandara Spa is a nice luxury to have at your fingertips.

Cons: The restaurants here are very good but there is not a lot of variety. The resort may be difficult to navigate at times, with rooms in different buildings than the main lobby.

These three resorts are all amazing for different reasons. Regardless of which one you choose for your next vacation, you are bound to have a great time making memories! Hopefully, this guide helped you find the best fit to do exactly that!
