This past week, we had the opportunity to explore everything that the 2021 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival has to offer! With several new food booths and plenty of favorites from past years, there is so much worth seeing. In addition, the merchandise is adorable (just take my money!) and there are fun things to do and see for all ages. The best part? There is still more coming as we get closer to the 50th anniversary celebration at the Walt Disney World Resort. Here is a review of what we’ve seen so far!
The Food Booths
While we visited this past week, we tried to sample several different foods from the festival. We definitely found some favorites and are eager to try more when they open on October 1! You can find the full menus here for each food booth.
Flavors from Fire hosted by The NFL on ESPN presented by Chevrolet
This was our first stop of the day and ended up being our favorite.
We tried two items here – The Chimichurri-up Offense and the The S’mores Whoopie Pie-lon.
The Chimichurri-up Offense: Charred Chimichurri Steak on a Smoked Corn Cake with Pickled Vegetable Slaw and Cilantro Aïoli
This professor gives this dish a 10 out of 10! It was so good! The steak was tender and I loved the corn cake underneath. It was the perfect combination of flavors and not a bite was left behind!
The S’mores Whoopie Pie-lon: Smoked Chocolate Cake, Graham Cracker, Marshmallow, Chocolate Ganache, and Candied Bacon
This dessert was very rich but also very delicious. I was afraid the cake might be a bit dry but that was not the case at all. It was definitely the perfect s’more and the candied bacon was a nice addition.
The Appleseed Orchard is found in the Canada Theatre. At this booth, we tried two of the non-alcoholic drinks. We will be stopping again though to try the Apple Crumble Tart because it looked and smelled amazing! They sold out for a bit right before we ordered. It’s just a good reason to visit again right?
Here we tried the Frozen Apple Pie and the Cinnamon Apple Cidar.
Frozen Apple Pie: This was a slushie drink consisting of apple pieces at the bottom and crumbs on top, like an apple pie.
This drink was refreshing and a bit surprising as I was not expecting the apples at the bottom. The pie crumbs on top were a nice touch too.
Cinnamon Apple Cidar
This one was the perfect drink for a hot Orlando day. It was gone in the blink of an eye! It gave all the vibes of a fall afternoon at the apple orchard.
I always make a stop at this booth, at every Epcot festival throughout the year. The options here never disappoint and this food booth features one of my favorites.
Teriyaki Chicken Bun: Steamed Bun filled with Chicken, Vegetables, and Teriyaki Sauce
This one is a consistent favorite each year. It has a great flavor, with the perfect amount of sauce inside. It gets two thumbs up and there was not a single bite left!
We tried two new dishes at this food booth. It was nice to see some new additions.
Mezzelune Croccanti: Crispy Half-moon Breaded Mozzarella-filled Ravioli with Pomodoro Sauce
Ravioli: Grilled Chicken Ravioli with Alfredo Sauce, Romano Cheese, and Prezzemolo
Italian Red Sangria with Cabernet Sauvignon
We really liked mezzelune croccanti and the sauce that came with it was very good. This was a nice portion too. The red sangria was also quite tasty and not too sweet.
The ravioli was stuffed with chicken with alfredo sauce on top. It wasn’t for us and is not something we would try again.
This is another booth that we stop at throughout the year. If you are planning to complete Emile’s Fromage Montage Cheese Crawl, then this is one of your stops. I was excited to see another new addition here. For anyone who loves the “grapefruit beer”, you will be excited to learn that there is a new wild cherry flavor.
Schinkennudeln: Pasta Gratin with Ham, Onions, and Cheese
Schöfferhofer Wild Cherry Hefeweizen, Mainz
These were both very good. The pasta had a great flavor and was not dry. Athough I typically am not a big fan of onions, it was the perfect combination with the ham and cheese.
Shimmering Sips hosted by CORKCICLE
This is where you stop to pick up your prize when you are finished with Emile’s Fromage Montage Cheese Crawl. However, it’s also worth a stop to get a snack or a drink
Shimmering Strawberry Soft-serve in a Waffle Cone
This dessert was so good and so pretty! It’s a good thing too because we had to eat it fast in the Florida heat! It was a refreshing snack after exploring the World Showcase.
Tropical Mimosa with Sparkling Wine and Passion Fruit, Orange, and Guava Juices
If you love POG juice, this is the drink for you! It was sweet and perfect to sip while exploring the park.
It was so nice to see live music in Epcot again! While the live entertainment schedule was modified from previous years, there are local bands from throughout central Florida playing on select nights. We had the opportunity to watch Epic! Live on the opening night of the American Gardens Bandstand. You could feel the excitement from the crowd and the band seemed so thrilled to be there! There are different bands playing each week through September 27 and updates will be added to the schedule as they become available.
The merchandise this year is great! There is still more expected to be released later this fall too. The collections so far feature Mickey and Minnie, Remy, Figment and more. You can’t forget about Beauty and the Beast either! With everything from spirit jerseys to cups and an adorable new pair of Minnie ears, you are bound to find the perfect souvenir for everyone!
What’s Still Coming?
This festival has only just begun and it runs for 129 delicious days! There are several more food booths opening on October 1. In addition, the new fireworks show HarmoniUS also starts the same day. Of course, we also cannot forget about the much-anticipated opening of the new ride, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. WIth more food booths, live bands and a new fireworks show this fall, there is still plenty to taste and discover! Stay tuned!
