Characters at the Disneyland Resort

| | |

When you visit the Disneyland Resort, there is magic to be seen everywhere! Part of that magic is seeing so many Disney friends. Characters at the Disneyland Resort offer fun and unique interactions. Plus, it seems like they are everywhere!

**Please note, character interactions currently look a little different. They are socially distanced and no physical contact is permitted. There is no guarantee what characters will be present. This list will be updated as any changes are made to experiences.

Disneyland Park

At Disneyland Park, there are many different locations to see characters throughout the day. They rotate frequently and there are often different characters that may not usually be seen! Plus, there are some, such as villains that are currently appearing for the Halloween season. The list below includes a few examples where we spotted characters. Additional opportunities may be available.

Mickey’s Toontown

in Mickey’s Toontown, friends were found for socially distanced interactions throughout the land. Some examples that we saw included:

  • Chip and Dale
  • Donald Duck
  • Marie from The Aristocats
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Minnie Mouse

All of the characters were not out at once. However, they rotated frequently. They paused for pictures and waved to guests.

Here, we saw the biggest variety of characters, including those that are not typically seen, especially compared to Walt Disney World. This character interaction is found directly across from the entrance to “It’s A Small World”.

Some examples include:

  • Moana
  • Mary Poppins & Bert
  • Gepetto & Pinocchio
  • Genie & Jasmine
  • Captain Hook & Wendy

Fantasy Faire and Royal Theatre

If you are looking for Disney royalty, head to the Royal Theatre and the area outside of Fantasy Faire. Here, several Disney princesses and villains appear throughout the day! I cannot say enough about these outstanding interactions! It was so fun!
At the Royal Theatre, cast members ask guests to line up and walk through to meet at least one character (usually two).

Outside, guests take turns as the characters move about a roped-off area posing for pictures with guests.

Train Station

At the train station, as you enter the park, Mickey and friends are often found especially at the beginning and end of the day. In addition, villains are sometimes found in Town Square including Cruella de Vil and the Queen of Hearts.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

When you head to Batuu, look for both friends and foes in the galaxy far, far away!

Chewbacca is often found working on the Millennium Falcon. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren and his stormtroopers are on the hunt for the Resistance spy that they believe is hiding in Batuu!

Be on the lookout in other parts of the park too! You never know who might pop up around Sleeping Beauty Castle or along Main Street U.S.A.

Disney California Adventure

Buena Vista Street

As you enter Disney California Adventure and come to Buena Vista Street, you will likely encounter many friends throughout the day. As with Disneyland Park, the characters rotate frequently and it is not always known who will be appearing next!

Some examples include:

  • Elsa
  • Queen Anna
  • Dopey
  • Horace Horsecollar
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Minnie Mouse
  • Pluto
  • Goofy

Mickey and his friends appear in Halloween costumes during the fall season.

Avengers Campus

At the Avengers Campus, there are so many opportunities to see so many of your favorite superheroes! These friends can be seen throughout the day in shows such as The Amazing Spider-Man! In addition, there are opportunities to snap photos and chat with them. Cast members have guests line up to meet friends and take a photo. Some examples of characters that may assemble include:

  • Captain America
  • Iron Man
  • Thor and Loki
  • Black Panther
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Black Widow
  • Falcon

Pixar Pier

At Pixar Pier, look for some of your favorite friends from Disney-Pixar movies including Toy Story and Coco.

Character Dining

Plaza Inn at Disneyland Park

Located inside Disneyland Park, the Plaza Inn is a character meal serving breakfast. Guests are greeted by Minnie Mouse. A photo is included with the price of the meal.

Then, head inside for an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet meal. Cast members are currently serving guests the food. Guests are free to get their own beverages, utensils and condiments, and pastries. Disney friends including Tigger, Pooh, Pluto, Chip, Dale, and more all make appearances. They may stop briefly to pose for photos but participate in parade-style interactions throughout the meal.

Storytellers Cafe

At Disney’s Grand Californian Resort and Spa, dine with Mickey and friends at Storytellers Cafe. Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast Buffet offers an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal and fun with some favorite friends in a rustic setting perfect for an adventure!
