Today there is a new update for the My Disney Experience app that gives guests access to the Disney Genie. Previously, we gave you a complete guide to what this new service entails. This is your guide on how to use Disney Genie and the add-ons available with it.

There are three different parts to this all-new service – Disney Genie, Disney Genie+, and Individual Lightning Lane Attraction selections. All of this is accessible via the My Disney Experience app.

Getting Started with Disney Genie

When you open the My Disney Experience app, there will be three ways to get started with the Disney Genie service.

First, there will be a button on the main screen that says “Learn More”. Second, press the + at the bottom of your screen in the center and then press the “My Tip Board and Day” button. The third way to access it is to click on the three lines on the bottom right of the My Disney Experience app and then select the “My Genie Plans” button. All three options are seen below.

Once you select one of those options, you will be able to start the Disney Genie! On the next screen, you have the option to select either “Start Now” or “Go to Tip Board”. Select “Start Now” to be prompted to select your date and theme park. You also need to confirm your travel party.

Once you confirm this information, you’ll be prompted to select your must-do attractions. If you are not sure what you want to do, Disney Genie will offer some preselected categories and you choose your interests. From there, Disney Genie will then organize your day! It’s that simple!

Adding and Using Disney Genie+

Once you have the Disney Genie Service set up, you will see more details about the Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane options. As a reminder, these are three different services.

First, there is a list of attractions included. Then, two options for Individual Lightning Lane options will be offered.=-

Once you purchase Disney Genie+, you select your attractions one at a time starting at 7:00 am each day. You can view the full list of attractions included, as well as the Lightning Lane Attractions, on our printable guide.

Individual Lightning Lane Attractions – How to Purchase

For the most popular attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort, guests may purchase an Individual Lightning Lane return time. There are eight attractions, two in each park, that offer this service. Alternatively, guests may choose to use the standby queue.

To find these attractions, be sure to update your list of must-do attractions. You will see the option to purchase on the app.

Guests select the Individual Lightning Lane attraction return times starting at 7:00 am on the day they will be visiting the park. For example, if you are visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you can choose from Avatar Flight of Passage or Expedition Everest. You sign on to the My Disney Experience app starting at 7:00 am and select the time you would like to ride.

This is a separate service from the Disney Genie+ and you can obtain up to two Individual Lightning Lane times per day. In addition, you may choose from any of these eight attractions if you have a park hopper.
