Disney World Character Locations 2022

| | |

Take a look at the most up-to-date Walt Disney World Character Locations updated for 2022 guests visiting the parks.

One of the biggest questions we get about the “new normal” at Walt Disney World is: Where can we see characters now? While the normal character meet and greets are temporarily paused, you can still find lots of your favorite Disney characters at Walt Disney World.

We created this guide to break down the current(and always changing) locations you can find characters in all four parks right now (as of February 20th, 2022). First, we will start off with the most asked questions when looking for characters!

1- How can I find characters at Walt Disney World?

Disney characters have started to return to scheduled meet and greet locations but are now in also places you wouldn’t normally find them. And, it might be a little less frequent than before. But, there are some big changes with characters that allow you to see SOME of them even more than ever before. Disney characters can be found in their scheduled locations in the parks, a cavalcade, a motorcade, flotillas, others can simply be found playing in the flowers! And very soon we will see the return of the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom! This guide will help you find all of the current places you can find characters at Walt Disney World.

2- How often do cavalcades run in the parks?

Right now cavalcades are in a transitional period as Disney brings back full parades and scheduled meet and greets. (Mickey can never be in the same place in one park at the same time…) They are modifying the current character experiences at all four parks and with that came a bit of an adjustment to where and when we see cavalcades. HOWEVER, when they do run you will see them in the My Disney Experience app and they begin on the hour and run every 15-20 mins.

3- Is there a set time characters come out during the day?

Disney Characters usually start appearing around the parks starting at 11 am. More and more character interactions are coming back to the parks (and we have them here below) but there are also many “pop-up” appearances by friends in the parks as well! You can find the scheduled character meet and greets per park on the My Disney Experience app. It is always a good idea to check and see who you can meet and add it to your plans in the app especially if you are using the Disney Genie+ service.

4- Are character experiences socially distanced?

You may be asking, “Can Disney characters give hugs”? As of right now, there is still no physical contact between characters and guests. Sadly, no hugging your favorite princess just yet. Disney still makes your experience fun and exciting! You can still take photos with them, mask-free(as of February 20th, 2022), and enjoy a safe and socially distanced experience with each character.

5- Can I get character autographs?

Disney was slowly phasing out autographs before the pandemic began. Now to keep the spread of germs as low as possible they have gotten rid of any autograph signing at the parks from any characters.

How to Use My Disney Experience to Find Characters

The My Disney Experience App is vital to locating characters. In addition to timed meet and greets, there are numerous other pop-up sightings, cavalcades, and more. Take a look at our screenshots below to help!

Take a look at how to find these character locations while you’re in the park:

  1. On your app look at the icons along the bottom of your phone.
  2. Next to the home button is a location pin button. Click on that.
  3. In the top left corner apply filters for the Disney park you’d like to look at.
  4. Click the middle drop-down menu and select Entertainment. It will automatically show you the map version of the results.
  5. Click the top right-hand corner on “Show List” to see them in list format. It’s much easier to browse. Flotillas, character cruises, cavalcades, motorcades, distanced meets and more will show up here.

Topolino- Where Can You Disney Characters at Walt Disney World Now

Disney World Character Meals 2022

One other way to ensure you see characters is to book a character breakfast or other meal. Currently, the following character meals are available (February 2022):

Topolino’s Terrace- Flavors of the Riviera (Breakfast)

Topolino’s located at the Riviera Resort is one of the most sought-after character dining experiences at Disney. This means that reservations can be hard to come by, especially right when the window opens up. Persistence is key here. Don’t worry if you don’t get the reservation right off. Many people snag them closer to their trip dates as people change their plans.

Pros of character meals at Topolino’s are the food (great), the ability for each family member to order their own meal and the Skyliner access to get to Disney parks afterward. The characters at Topolino’s Terrace are Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy. They are all dressed in unique, artsy costumes.

Cost of Topolino’s Character Meal: Breakfast a la Arte is $42/adults and $27/kids. Specialty drinks can add on to that cost.

Chef Mickey’s (Breakfast and Dinner)

Located at the Contemporary Resort, this popular character meal is another coveted reservation. As with Topolino’s, if you don’t get a reservation at first keep trying. More become available closer to the date as people’s plans change.  Chef Mickey’s used to be buffet-style and has pivoted to family-style due to Covid. Characters at Chef Mickey’s the original fab five – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto.

Cost of Chef Mickey’s Character Meal: Breakfast is $42/adults and $27/kids.  Dinner is $55/adults and $36/kids. Specialty drinks can add on to that cost.

Garden Grill Restaurant (Lunch and Dinner)

Reservations at Garden Grill are a bit easier to snag. Located in the World Nature neighborhood of EPCOT in the Land pavilion, you do need to have both a park ticket and park reservation to eat here. Garden Grill are the availability of a lunch character meal, family-style dining, and changing scenery as the restaurant rotates through different scenes. Dining is a family-style “Thanksgiving-style” menu.

Characters at Garden Grill are Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Chip and Dale.

Cost of Garden Grill Character Meal: Both Lunch and dinner are $55/adults and $36/kids. The menu for both is the same – Chip ‘n’ Dale Harvest Feast.

Hollywood & Vine (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

Located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Hollywood & Vine requires both a park ticket and a park reservation to access. Be aware Hollywood & Vine is one of the restaurants where the characters are different depending on the time of day. Hollywood & Vine are that all meals are available for character dining, shared appetizers with individual entree choice and character. You could eat breakfast and dinner here and it would be a totally different experience.  There is a dance party theme for breakfast that kids love and the pictures from these meals are always super cute.

Characters at Hollywood & Vine are Disney Junior characters for breakfast. Breakfast includes Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, Fancy Nancy and Goofy. Lunch and Dinner characters are Minnie and Mickey, Donald, Pluto and Goofy. The best part about Hollywood & Vine lunch and dinner is that the characters change costumes seasonally so you can see them dressed up for Halloween, Christmas and more.

Cost of the Hollywood & Vine Character Meal: Breakfast is $42/adult and $27/kids. Lunch and dinner pricing and menus are the same $55/adults and $36/kids.
