Last week, it was announced that Disneyland Resort vacation packages for 2023 were released. Now is a great time to plan your next visit. If you’re not sure when you want to go, we are sharing the best times to visit the Disneyland Resort.

There are a few factors that went into this list. Weather and crowds are two big things contributing to the recommendations in this article. In addition, the overall vibes at the parks at as well as any special entertainment available.

It’s important to note that any time is a great time to visit the Disneyland Resort. This includes even during the busiest times of the year if you have a good plan. However, this is a list of our favorite times to go and why.

January

January is the time to celebrate the Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure. This festival is short but features tasty bites inspired by the Lunar New Year celebration. There is special merchandise and fun for all as well including a parade, musical performances by authentic Asian dancers and musicians, fun merchandise, and even special character meet and greet opportunities.

This time of the year is great because the crowds often decrease after the holiday season. The weather is also cool, with layers recommended during the morning and evening.

Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival

The popular festival returned to Disney California Adventure in 2022 and celebrates the Golden State. The food and wine are the best parts of this festival, of course! There are a variety of festival marketplaces featuring delicious dishes inspired by the state of California.

In years past, guests have been able to purchase a Sip and Savor Pass, allowing them to pick and choose items for the menus using entitlements that can be redeemed for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

In addition to the food and beverages, there is some great entertainment at this festival. Examples may include Tasting Seminars, live music, and more. Kids will love meeting Chef Goofy and attending special culinary events designed for younger guests.

This festival typically takes place in March and April. The weather is quite comfortable during the day and cooler in the evening.

Late Spring

Once Easter is over and the kids have returned to school after Spring Break, you are likely to find fewer crowds at the parks. Although Disneyland Resort is very popular with local visitors, you won’t find the spring break crowds in early May that you did a few weeks prior.

The weather is also gorgeous. It is warm during the day and often cooler in the evening. It is a big reason why this is my favorite time to visit. It’s not too hot and it’s the perfect time to enjoy every aspect of the Disneyland Resort, including the great pools at the hotels!

September

Fall at the Disneyland Resort is always a fun time to visit! Halloween Time at Disneyland Park and the Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure are sure to be the highlights of your visit!

Are you a fan of the Disney Villains? This is your opportunity to see quite a few! From the Mistress of Evil herself to Lady Tremaine and the Evil Queen, there are many chances throughout the day to meet your favorites!

November or December

There is something exceptionally magical about visiting any of the Disney parks during the holiday season! The Disneyland Resort is no exception, as the holiday magic fills the parks starting in early November of each year.

There is so much happening at the Disneyland Resort during the holiday season too. From a special holiday parade in Disneyland Park to the Disney Festival of the Holidays at Disney California Adventure, there is something for everyone to enjoy. There are even special holiday-themed shows such as World of Color – Season of Light.

The weather at this time of year can be a little unpredictable but it’s still beautiful. Be prepared for everything though – layers are highly recommended as it is often warm during the day but cools down quite a bit at night. Check out all the details here for the 2022 holiday season.
