Wand Experience at Universal Orlando

One of the most important parts of a young witch or wizard’s packing list, as they get ready for the journey to Hogwarts, is getting their wand. If you are planning a trip to the Universal Orlando Resort, you may be wondering how the wand will choose the wizard! This is your complete guide to the Wand Experience at Universal Orlando Resort.

Finding Your Wand

There are two ways to get your wand for your trip to the Universal Orlando Resort. One way is to select it before your visit and the other is to choose it once you start your vacation.

Before Your Visit

If you prefer to get your wand prior to arriving at the Universal Orlando Resort, you can purchase it online from the Universal Orlando Resort Shop. You can choose from a variety of wands, including interactive options from your favorite characters.

Once You Arrive Onsite

If you prefer to wait until you arrive at the Universal Orlando Resort, there are many options to find a wand. First, you can head to the store at your resort hotel or Universal CityWalk if you are looking outside the parks. Once you enter the parks, there are a few different options where you can find a wand to practice your wizardly magic!

Ollivanders^TM Wand Shop

If you are looking for a truly interactive experience, head to Ollivanders^TM Wand Shop at either theme park. As the makers of fine wands since 382 B.C., this is the place to go for your chance to participate in a magical experience that truly shows how the wand chooses the wizard!

There is a brief show where one guest will be chosen to participate and the wand will choose the wizard. The guest will then have the opportunity to choose whether or not their unique wand is purchased.

A queue forms in both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade for this experience and shows run throughout the day. You do not need an appointment time for this experience.

In addition, guests are encouraged to enter Ollivanders^TM Wand Shop separately and explore or shop for the wand of their choice. You can choose a unique wand, a set, or character wand replicas, as well as interactive wands.

Practice Your Spells

Once you have your wand, it’s time to practice! Don’t forget to swish and flick as you say your incantations! To get the spell to work, it has to be done just right. As Hermione Granger points out, make sure you know that it’s Wingardium Levi-O-sa, not levio-SA!

Each interactive wand includes a detailed map of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. On the map, you will find the various locations in each park where you can practice your spells. At each location, there are plaques to show you where to stand.

Diagon Alley

Be sure to explore all of Diagon Alley as you practice with your wand! There are a few locations that are harder to find, including some in Knockturn Alley. Be on the lookout for the plaques as you search your map!

Hogsmeade

In Hogsmeade, you will find plaques throughout the land as you explore the various shops. There are a few that are quite tricky along the way! This professor’s personal favorite is stopping at the window outside Dervish and Banges!

A Few Tips

• Team members are readily available to help you master your spells. It takes practice and a few are quite challenging! They can guide you as you master your wand. In addition, if you encounter any issues with your wand, speak with a team member right away. They will be able to assist you with getting it fixed or getting a replacement.
• The plaques located throughout the Wizarding World show you where to stand. In addition, each one features directional arrows to show you how to move your wand. The spell is also included.
• If you plan to practice your spells at each park in one day, you will need a park-to-park ticket. This is always the best option to explore the parks because it is the only way to ride the Hogwarts Express and allows you to seamlessly go back and forth!
