Located near the front of Islands of Adventure, Confisco Grille is an often-overlooked location to grab a quick lunch or enjoy a tasty dinner. The menu features dishes from around the world full of spices and bold flavors. Recently, a new menu was introduced and we are going to give you a look into the delish new flavors introduced!
The new Executive Chef of Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Jason Glus, and his team created the new menu by re-visiting the story behind the venue.
Since Universal’s Islands of Adventure first opened in 1999, the restaurant has served as a resting spot for explorers coming through the Port of Entry. And now, the all-new dishes reflect their worldwide travels. Glus is infusing a mixture of global cuisines from Asia, Turkey, Greece, Russia, Poland and more into the reimagined menu.
Hummus
Middle Eastern flavored hummus, kalamata olives, olive oil and charred pita and lavosh for dipping. This is still the classic hummus recipe people adore, but with a new look.
“It’s that same flavorful hummus you could get before but with an elevated presentation,” says Chef Glus. “It makes it more shareable and a more immersive experience for the guest.”
Pork Belly Banh-Mi Sandwich
Roasted pork belly, pickled carrots, daikon radish and cucumber topped with a chile aioli on a French baguette. This hearty sandwich comes with thick cuts of perfectly cooked pork belly and a blend of fresh veggies. The chile aioli sauce is a perfect pairing with the tender pork!
Chilled Tuna Noodle Bowl
Sesame seared yellowfin tuna, soba noodles, green onion, avocado, edamame, cucumber and a wasabi-ponzu dressing. This is a lighter option for those that have consumed too much of the sweet or savory in the park all day.
“The Chilled Tuna Noodle Bowl is a good one, with the fresh ingredients yellowfin tuna and buckwheat soba noodles,” says Chef Glus. “You can’t find anything else like this park-wide except for at Confisco.”
Hearthstone Baked Chicken Sandwich
Mozzarella cheese, Roma tomatoes, leaf lettuce, basil aioli, aged balsamic and focaccia baked in a wood oven. This chicken sandwich is baked in a wood oven with melted mozzarella cheese on Universal’s own bread they bake on property!
Port of Entry Fajitas
A skillet of your choice of beef, chicken, or shrimp served with tomatoes, peppers, onions, jasmine rice, queso fresco, housemade guacamole, aji sauce and warm tortillas! So good!
Sweet and Sour Sticky Ribs
Philippine-inspired smoked pork ribs tossed in a sweet and sour sauce, goat cheese polenta and topped with toasted sesame seeds. “We wanted to keep the ribs, but we changed it up a bit going with the sticky pork ribs with the sweet and sour sauce,” Chef Gus says.
If you are a fan of meat falling off the bone smothered in sweet and sour sauce, on a bed of creamy and cheesy polenta goodness, this will be your jam!
Grilled Lamb Meatballs
Grilled spiced lamb meatballs with tzatziki sauce, tomato-cucumber relish, feta cheese and mint chimichurri. There is a lot of flavor in these meatballs! The whole plate was delish.
This was just a taste of the new items on the menu! To see the complete menu now offered, take a look below!
