What are Disney PhotoPass and Memory Maker?

Disney PhotoPass is the name of the photography service offered at Walt Disney World. This covers your ride photos, character meet-and-greets, as well as some optional stops around property with photographers. You’ll find PhotoPass photographers stationed throughout the resort with unique backdrops like the Tree of Life, Cinderella Castle, Millennium Falcon and more. Photographers may also be available at certain character experiences, including select character dining or meet and greets. There are often special photo-ops for celebrations or events that are only around for a limited time. Photographers can even add some extra pixie dust with digitally enhanced Magic Shots.

All photos you take will be uploaded to your My Disney Experience account. Your photos will be watermarked until you purchase individual photos or a photo package like Memory Maker. You can opt to purchase individual photos a la carte. However, adding Memory Maker before your trip is well worth the price if you love to have access to your park photos! You can add it to any vacation package for $169 + tax if purchased at least 3 days in advance or for $199 + tax if purchased once you arrive. Or, if you just want it for one day you can buy it for $69.00. This will only allow you access to print the photos for the day you purchase the Memory Maker.

*Update: Guests who purchase Genie+ service will also receive digital downloads of their Disney PhotoPass attraction photos, taken in the park on the day of their purchase, at no additional charge!

Memory Maker includes:

  • Photos taken at more than 100 locations:
    • Iconic spots at all 4 parks
    • Select character meet-and-greet locations
    • Select attractions
    • Portrait studios
  • Over 75 unique Magic Shots, including Super Zoom and Tiny World Magic Shots
  • Capture Your Moment or Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experiences (sessions booked and sold separately)
  • Access to create, download, and save your Disney PhotoPass video memories

How to use PhotoPass

PhotoPass photographers will have a couple of options for you when they get photos taken.

  • The first option is to scan your MagicBand/MagicBand+. The Disney PhotoPass photographer will scan the Mickey logo on your band, and your photos will be linked to your MyDisneyExperience account.
  • The other option is that guests will be given a PhotoPass card. This plastic card is free and will have a 16-digit barcode. The PhotoPass photographer will scan that and then hand it to you. Any time you get your photo taken by a Disney’s PhotoPass photographer, you must get either the MagicBand or the PhotoPass card scanned.

With Disney’s PhotoPass, you are under no financial obligation to purchase the photos the photographers take. Even if you don’t buy any photos after your vacation, you can still share them online with friends and family for up to 30 days. If you receive a PhotoPass card, make sure to keep the card safe.

Where Can You Find the Photographers?

Most of the standard PhotoPass locations are near iconic locations, including the front of the Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle or the Garden Gate Gifts of the Animal Kingdom. You can easily recognize photographers by their professional camera equipment, cast member name tags, and green/tan vests.

Once you approach the photographer, you must do one of two things. If you have a MagicBand, it will be scanned before taking your photo. Alternatively, you can use a Disney PhotoPass card where you can collect all of your photos and then link them to your account.

These unique photos can be taken at several different locations. If a Photopass Photographer asks you to stand in a strange pose or look at an area where there is nothing to look at, you will likely have a Magic Shot to check out on MyDisneyExperience later.

Guests can also receive animated magic shots.  These pictures come alive with animation when viewed on the MyDisneyExperience app and can be shared online. There are a few locations for these animated pictures. Watch for other animated magic shots for special events or seasons.

      • A shot featuring Mickey and Minnie is available at Hollywood Boulevard near Celebrity 5 & 10 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or near the Partners Statue at Magic Kingdom Park.
      • When you meet Cinderella before dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table or visit her at Princess Fairy Tale Hall in Magic Kingdom Park, you’ll be welcomed with an Animated Magic Shot featuring Jaq and Gus.
