Rumors have been swirling since early 2022 that a new “Fast & Furious” coaster was in the plans for Universal Hollywood, with permits being filed by the park in October of last year for a geotechnical study of an outdoor roller coaster. There has even been leaked concept art for the new thrill ride, with the working title of “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” – although the official title for the upcoming attraction has not yet been confirmed or announced by Universal. Across social media platforms, the fan following for the movies and cast has grown into the biggest of any active franchise.
Though not confirmed by Universal, it is rumored that the attraction’s queue, façade, & loading area will be located on the Upper Lot at
Universal Studios Hollywood, replacing the former Animal Actors Stage & Special Effects show-buildings, which have already been demolished by Universal construction crews. The coaster will also likely utilize the park’s hill & Lower Lot throughout most of it’s track layout, before ascending the hill & returning to it’s loading area in the Upper Lot.
The “Fast & Furious” attraction will mark the third roller coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood, joining the Wizarding World’s “Flight of the Hippogriff” family coaster & the more thrilling “Revenge of the Mummy – the Ride.” The coaster is rumored to open in late 2024 or early 2025, although no dates have been confirmed by the company.
