When you are on vacation at a theme park, waiting in line to experience the attractions is one of those things that comes along with the experience. Although there are ways to maximize your time and the goal is always to have the shortest wait possible, it is not likely that you will be able to walk on every attraction you want to go to. For this reason, Universal Orlando Resort has an option called the Universal Express Pass.

What is Universal Express Pass?

The Universal Express Pass system is in place for many of the most popular rides throughout the theme parks – Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. There is also an option available for use at the water park, Universal’s Volcano Bay. While using the Universal Express Pass does not mean that you will have no wait, it often results in significantly lower wait times for the attractions offering it. This results in you having more time to explore the parks!

How Does It Work?

To use the Express Pass, simply look for the designated line marked with the Express Pass sign at all participating attractions. There will be a team member at the entrance to check your ticket or room key and scan it. You will then be directed to proceed through the line. Typically, your wait times using the Express Line are 15-20% of the standby wait time.

Express Pass Types

• Express Pass: This option is available for purchase separately, in addition to your park ticket. It allows guests to use the Express Pass entrance on all eligible attractions once on the day of purchase. After you have used your pass for the specific attraction, you will have to use the standby line if you would like to experience it again.
• Universal Express Pass Unlimited: You can purchase this option separately or in addition to your ticket and package purchase. This option gives guests the ability to use the Express Pass line an unlimited number of times for all participating attractions.
• Universal Express Pass Unlimited (Premier Resort Perk): When guests stay at a premier hotel at the Universal Orlando Resort, they can enjoy the complimentary Universal Express Pass Unlimited as part of their stay. This is good for the length of stay, including check-in and check-out days. The participating hotels are Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, and Loews Royal Pacific. Please note, these cannot be used at Universal’s Volcano Bay.
• Volcano Bay Express & Express Pass Unlimited: There are two options available for Universal’s Volcano Bay. The Express Unlimited gives guests access to all participating rides and attractions at Volcano Bay. The standard Volcano Bay Express Pass offers guests the ability to skip the virtual lines at SELECT participating attractions.
